My Journey With The Digging Well

Humanitarian aid is a vital lifeline for millions of people around the world. At the Digging Well Foundation, we believe that access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) is a fundamental human right. In this post, I share my journey with the organisation and our impact on Africa.

 I joined the Digging Well Foundation with a passion for making a difference in the lives of others. As a relatively new member of the team, I'm still learning and growing alongside our experienced staff and volunteers. My journey so far has been incredible, and I'm excited to share some of the experiences that have made a lasting impact on me.

Through my work with the Digging Well Foundation, I've had the opportunity to develop new skills and gain hands-on experience in humanitarian aid. Working on a project at Jehovah Jireh African Primary School in Ijebu Jesha, Nigeria, has given me hands-on experience in humanitarian service. Meeting with the school headteacher and PTA chairman, I saw the dire need for improvement. The school faced numerous challenges, including inadequate security, lack of water sources, poor sanitation, and an old, unusable toilet. I felt deeply committed to helping the children.

 Making a Difference

Through this project, I learned how to develop strategies to address these issues, negotiate with contractors to build hygienic toilets, and oversee the installation of a clean water source. The joy on the children's faces when they fetched water from the new source was unforgettable. They couldn't stop drinking from it, and even the staff joined in! On my way home that day, I felt a sense of pride and purpose, knowing I had one of the best jobs.  

A Heartfelt Thank You

After installing the clean water source at Jehovah Jireh African School, the children gathered to thank our donors for this significant facility added to their school. They sang songs and shared heartfelt messages of appreciation. It was a moment that filled our hearts with joy and reminded us of the impact of our work.
